"Samrudhi" Block Level Federated Organization (BLFO), established in 2017 to support the farmers to create a market place for their produces to get better prices. There are 12 Grama panchayaths coming under this BLFO. Which includes nine panchayaths of Ranni Block Panchayath, Puramattom, Ezhumattur, and Cherukole Gramma Panchayaths. From the very beginning the Samrudhi intervened a very effectively by creating “Vipani” (Market Place) in Ranni town. But in 2018 and 2019 the great floods worst affected the agricultural sector, especially in this area which was one of the epic center of this calamity. This costs very hard on the activities of Samrudhi and incurred a huge loss. Following the flood, Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020 was also pulled back the activities of Samrudhi due to the lockdowns and various restrictions. Soon after lifting first lockdown, farmers slowly started activities and the BLFO committee started discussions to for a better restart of their activities. Ranni Block Panchayath come forwarded to support the BLFO to start a unit for value addition for agricultural produces and it granted 28 lakhs rupees (spillover) in 20-21 and 10 lakhs in 21-22 for this purpose. An MoU was signed in between National Institute for Inter-disciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST) under Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The total project will be implemented in three phase with a time line of 36 months. Meantime the central government and state government decided to promote FPO's throughout India for the upliftment and improvement of the agricultural sector. So Samruthi decided to take this opportunity to register as a FPO and as a result GREENRANNI Farmers Producers Company Pvt. Ltd. was constituted.
